Event reports:

Over 40 members from WIs around the county met at County House on Thursday 25th November @ 7pm to walk to Newark Market place. They then held a light vigil with candles and torches in support of the campaign ' No More Violence towards Women' and Helen Rose, County Chair and the Mayor of Newark both gave their support to the campaign. Tea, Coffee and hot chocolate was provided back at County House.

We were It was a pleasure to welcome members for lunch at the ‘Women in Farming’ event. Our speaker Clare Leggott, a former Nottinghamshire NFU Chair gave us an account of her life as a farmer – the high and the lows of running her farm. How she worked on a daily basis and the more ‘political’ aspects of what is affecting the coming years in farming. Members went home saying how they had enjoyed a wonderful lunch and listening to an excellent speaker.

We had a great afternoon at our first indoor event, WELCOME BACK on Friday 17th September at Oxton Village Hall. Members brought along their lockdown makes and what a wonderful array of crafts there was on display. Tea and cream scones or cakes were served, the WI Shop was busy and the Communications Team helped members with digital problems. The Miles for May was on display and the Sheila Norris Challenge entries 2019 were beautifully displayed - a lot of thought going into the exhibits made by WIs.

The Centenary Pennants were on display around the room and vases of sunflowers helped to bring a light-hearted mood to everyone. Of course we had a raffle with display boards promoting all our coming events. Some members told us their stories about their makes. It was a lovely afternoon at last meeting up and seeing friends again!
