FEDERATION DAY & ANNUAL MEETING 2025

The Federation’s Annual Meeting at The Minster School, Southwell on Saturday 14 June was attended by WI Delegates, members, committee members & guests.

Federation Chair, Helen Rose gave a warm welcome to everyone, and the business of the meeting followed. Federation Treasurer, Jenny Bailey reported as a poem on the excess of income in the Financial Statement for Nov 2023 – Oct 2024. Helen presented the Federation Chair’s address and used a poem to illustrate and thank volunteers for their contribution to the Federation.

The speaker, Lesley Smith, gave an inspiring talk, in character, on the life of war heroine ‘Peggy Knight.’Shethen presented the Awards. Anniversary Certificates: 60th to Burton Joyce & Bulcote WI and Ravenshead WI. 80th to Shireoaks & District WI. The Canada Cup to Marilyn Tarbox (Farnsfield WI), and the County Quiz trophy to Upton WI. The winners of the AFM competitions were announced. There were forty two wonderful entries in the Sheila Norris Rose Bowl competition for a Patchwork block, 1st and 2nd places went to Kim Shaw (Orston & Thoroton WI) and 3rd place to Elizabeth King (Newark Palace WI), Denise Evans (Wollaton WI) and Lesley Metheringham (Forest Town WI).

The Prize Draw then took place. Helen Rose thanked and presented gifts & flowers to retiring Trustees, June Freeman & Jenny Bailey. Sue Sanderson announced the Officers &Trustees for the coming year. Helen Ainley (Chair), Beryl Northcote (Vice Chair), Helen Rose (Treasurer), Bev Stuart, Christine Clark, Heidi Platts, Deb Jones and Julia Fiddian. The Meeting closed with the National Anthem.

Butterfly Knitting Appeal

BUTTERFLY

Nurse Hazel from the End of Life Care team has asked if members could help to replenish the Butterfly Comfort & Memory Making trollies used by the End of Life Care team at Kings Mill, Newark and Mansfield Community Hospitals. They would like knitted or crocheted blankets approx size 76cm (30 inches) x 122cm (48 inches)  and small pairs of knitted hearts. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at KMH community hub.

We have a Zoom Craft & Chat every 3rd Tuesday of he month. This gives you a chance to meet up with other members and show & chat about your crafts. It does not last long starting at 10.00am until 10.45am.  We hope you will join us. Get the coffee ready!

We are using  the Outlook email address to contact your WI. It is important that you look at your WI email address for information that is being sent as it may need a reply.

The Federation Officers, the Trustees, WI Advisers and Team members can all be contacted using the secure Nottinghamshire WI site through Office 365 Outlook.
